What's Included
Embark on a captivating full-day journey north of Addis to explore the breathtaking Blue Nile Gorge and the historically significant Debre Libanos Monastery.
After enjoying an early breakfast, we will drive north of Addis on the highway towards Bahir Dar. Our first stop will be the remarkable Debre Libanos Monastery, which was established in the 13th century by Abune Tekle Haymanot. Perched above the Jema River Gorge, a tributary of the Blue Nile, this monastery is home to a wealth of ecclesiastical, cultural, and historical artifacts. As you explore the grounds, keep an eye out for the diverse bird species and playful baboons that call this area home. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to cross the Portuguese Bridge, affectionately known as the Egg Bridge, located just below the monastery.
